But there is hope. Across the world people still try to survive, to either outlive the the biggest disaster to hit mankind or find a way to end it. Our story takes focus in the United States where two major groups, simply known as the Antagonists and Protagonists, are about to form.

One wants to find a cure, use it to control the people still alive, and then start a New World order where they’re in charge. The other just wants to live peacefully and survive, rebuild and start over. But they’re going to have to fight for it. As for the rest? Well. They just want to get out of this alive and are smack in the middle with a possible full-out war on the horizon.

In the mid 1960s, due to the increase of patients diagnosed with cancer, the Government funded a program to search for a cure. Some of the most brilliant scientists America had to offer worked in top secret to form what was known simply as ‘Serum 392’. However, instead of helping the victims by repairing cancerous cells and keeping them from dying something went horribly wrong.  Instead the serum would rapidly kill off all living cells, mutating them, and then bring them back to life. The voluntary test subjects then began to show increased signs of aggression, violence, and a form of cannibalism.

Deciding that the project was too dangerous and a waste of time and resources the research and formula were locked away on the United States Government’s super computer. Eventually this system became outdated and the computer was locked away somewhere for safekeeping.

And then Y2K came along. The year 2000. They thought that all the computers would stop working in the new year, since none of the systems were programmed past the year 1999. By now Serum 392 was completely forgotten, so when the old computer was brought back out as a temporary fail-safe until everything could be brought back up.

And that’s when they discovered the “cure”. They figured with their new modern technology they could perfect the serum, make it work where others had failed. It didn’t. Years later, in June of 2012, the serum somehow got out. Nobody knows what happened exactly but people started popping up randomly in the US. They would go crazy and start attacking people, biting and eating them. Trying to contain it and cover it up the officials stated it was some new form of hallucinogenic drug hitting the streets.

But as hard as they tried it couldn’t be contained and by July it was out of control. By September it was all over the world.

Jordan has never been one of those girls you can push around. Her Daddy was a Navy Seal and she knew from a young age she wanted to follow his lead. He was a hard to please man. She preferred serving her country fro Land, however and got into homeland security. Soon after graduating and beginning official work, she realized how shady the world really was. The only way to survive was look out for number 1. She of course adapted well and was soon feared. She lived by the rules: never rely on anyone and never mention the truth. She was one of the first to know how the world would change and she prepared. She doesn’t trust anyone she meets up with, even though some of them she’ll have to be with for months at a time. She’ll definitely sacrifice anyone ahead of herself.

Antagonists

The villains, they’re looking out for themselves and their own goals. Some of them might be trying to help but at the end of a day they’re still the bad guys. They do whatever it takes to survive, even if it means killing others, kidnapping, stealing from other camps and what not. They’re the ones you have to look out for. They have a type of home base, heavily guarded and fortified, with smaller groups traveling around to get supplies, follow through with orders or just out doing their own thing.
